New Delhi: The Central government has informed Parliament that Indian passport holders currently enjoy visa-free access to 27 countries and visa-on-arrival facilities in 47 countries, highlighting the growing global mobility available to Indian travellers.
The information was shared in response to a question raised in Parliament regarding the international travel access available to Indian passport holders. The government said that Indian citizens can travel to several destinations without obtaining a visa in advance, while many other countries offer visas upon arrival, making overseas travel more convenient.
The Centre also stated that it is actively engaging with foreign governments through diplomatic channels to expand travel opportunities for Indian citizens. These efforts aim to improve the ease of international travel by securing more visa exemptions and simplified entry arrangements.
Officials noted that visa policies are determined by individual countries and are subject to periodic review. India continues to work with partner nations to strengthen bilateral relations and enhance travel, tourism, business, and people-to-people exchanges.
The update is expected to benefit tourists, students, business travellers, and professionals by providing easier access to a growing number of international destinations.
As India strengthens its diplomatic ties worldwide, the government says it will continue pursuing measures that improve passport mobility and make international travel more accessible for Indian citizens.
